Instagram Takeover Takeaways

Early on in my Dickey Farms career, I had been presented with the opportunity to do an Instagram takeover for a close corporate client of theirs. Triangle Chemical Company was allowing me to takeover their Instagram account for their “On The Farm Friday” story highlight series. Throughout the entire day, I wandered around the entire farm with one of the owners and farmers, Lee Dickey (Robert Lee Dickey IV).

Along with the viewers of the story posts, I learned a lot about the farm, peaches, what they do/offer, and how to promote the agricultural side of the business. I took the viewers on a deep dive of the entire peach packing process, peach picking in the orchards, and the retail farm market items. This experience helped me to grasp how to put into words what Dickey Farms does and how they value their customers.

This was my first Instagram, or social media account, takeover ever, and it was very valuable to me, personally. Firstly, I had a great day wandering around and learning, which also led me to spend additional time with one of my bosses that I hadn’t gotten to know very well yet (Lee Dickey). As Lee and I shared an office, it was nice to have an added connection and established working partnership for the future. Secondly, it pushed my creativity and mindset to genuinely ask myself what potential customers want to see from us. This was vital to my learning of how to appeal to our target audience.

I will forever be grateful for the environment and businesses that we partnered with for the Instagram takeover and for how much I grew through the process. It was a great way to learn, understand, and connect with our target audience.
